Being able to watch players practice from a short distance away is one of the best things about the Australian Open.
Access to view the practice courts is available to all ticket holders, meaning that it is possible to for everyone to watch the top players up close. This by itself can be a good reason to buy a ground pass ticket.
The main practice courts are courts 16, 17 and 18, where the top seeded players will usually be scheduled. These courts are located near Hisense Arena and can be viewed from the observation bridge above the courts and along one side of the courts. Other outside courts are also used for practice sessions.
The practice schedule is available each day on the Australian Open website and displayed on the information screens around the grounds. I suggest checking the schedule before you head to the grounds and making a note of the practice sessions you want to see. If the player is popular get there before the scheduled time to get a place at the front. Although this can be difficult if top players practice consecutively, like Djokvoic.
See you at the practice courts!
Until next time
