With his five sets victory over Andreas Seppi (5-7, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, 8-6) in 3 hours 34 minutes Nick Kyrgios will earn guaranteed prize money of $340,000 by reaching the quarterfinals.
If Kyrgios can defeat Andy Murray in their quarterfinal to be played on Tuesday 27 January he will increase his prize money to $650,000 or more if he continues winning.

Should Kyrgios get past Murray, he’ll then play the winner of the Rafael Nadal and Tomas Berdych quarterfinal. If he wins this semi-final and reaches the final his minimum prize money as runner-up will be $1,550,000. Kyrgios would be the first Australian since Lleyton Hewitt in 2005 to reach a singles final at the Australian Open.
It would be a surprise if Kygrios becomes the 2015 Australian Open Champion, but you can never rule him out! He would take home $3,100,000 in prize money. He would also be the first Australian mens’ champion in Melbourne since Mark Edmonson in 1976!
