Men’s Tennis 2011: We’ve Made the Final Quarter

The 2011 slams are all finished now, but there is still some top tennis to come in the final quarter of the year.

It’s made up of five tournaments in Asia which started last week in Malaysia and Thailand.

Prior to the next ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event in Shanghai there are two ATP World Tour 500 tournaments.

China Open in Beijing
  • Commences 3 October
  • Check out who’s playing in China

Novak Djokovic, who is currently lying low due to a back injury, won’t be defending his 2010 win but hopes to be fit to play in Shanghai.

Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships in Tokyo
  • Commences 3 October
  • English Website

Players include defending champion Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray. Check out the list.

Shanghai Rolex Masters – ATP Masters 1000
  • Starts 10 October
  • 2010 Champion: Andy Murray
  • Official Website

Roger Federer won’t be playing Shanghai due to “nagging injuries” so if Andy Murray retains his title in 2011, he’ll overtake Roger in the rankings and will become World No.3.

Between Shanghai and Paris there are some ATP 250 tournaments and then the Swiss Indoors in Basel and the Valencia Open.

BNP Paribas Masters in Paris
  • ATP Masters 1000
  • 7 to 13 November
  • 2010 Champion: Robin Soderling
  • At this point, the Top 4 men will all be playing.
Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London
  • 20 – 27 November
  • Official Website
  • 2010 Champion: Roger Federer

Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray have all confirmed their places at this event.
