Grand Slam Plan Update: FO Only 4 Weeks to Go

April 26, 2012 By grandslamgal

It feels like forever since the Australian Open but fortunately the next slam, the French Open, is only 4 weeks away!

The main draw of the French Open runs from 27 May to 10 June, with qualifying the week before. And the official Roland Garros website is now updated for 2012.

Ready and waiting for the French Open

BallBoy and I are as organised as we can be and getting ready to leave in two weeks for the French Open and Wimbledon legs of the 2012 fan slam.

  • We’re brushing up our French every chance we get.
  • We’re all kitted up with a new camera that has great zoom and is good for action shots.
  • And we have Photo Shop on the Mac Book so I hope to be able to share awesome pics of the events that we attend.

We’ll be staying with family in Birmingham when we arrive in the UK, and catching up with friends in London before heading to Paris for the French Open on 24 May.

Here’s the tournament schedule so far:

French Open, we’ll be at:

  • Qualifying on 25 May
  • Court Suzanne Lenglen on Tuesday 29 May, Saturday 2 June and Sunday 3 June
  • Court Philippe Chatrier on Tuesday 5 June.

Then we head back to the UK on 6 June to watch the semi finals and finals from the couch!

The Aegon Championships at Queen’s Club London

  • We’re going to qualies on Sunday 10 June (and will hopefully find somewhere comfortable to watch the French Open Men’s final the same day)
  • Got tickets in the ballot for Queens on Tuesday 12 June

The Aegon Classic in Birmingham

  • We’ll be at the Birmingham tourney for the Quarter Finals on Friday 15 June

Wimbledon

To date, efforts to secure Wimby tickets have failed. No success in the ballot. No success getting tickets through my Australian Open membership.

So we’ll be looking to buy tickets online once the event starts, and I’ll also be queuing! As an Australian queuing doesn’t come as naturally to me as it does to some of my British friends, but it’s part of the Wimbledon experience so I’m prepared to give it a go. I’m not someone who waits patiently for an indeterminate amount of time though so I’ll be looking for plenty of distractions while I’m in the queue.

French Open... only four weeks to go... and counting!

And before the French Open there will be more tantalisingly top tennis at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments in Madrid and Rome.

Until next time
