Discover the benefits of doing a tour to a grand slam tennis tournament.
Travelling to tennis events is a fantastic experience for any tennis fan. You get to see famous sights in memorable cities and watch great tennis matches live.
The combination of tennis plus travel is one of the things that inspired me to do the “fan slam” this year.
I’ve been a regular traveller since I first went backpacking 15 years ago so I’m pretty good at planning the logistics of flights, accommodation, getting tickets, how to get around etc.
But doing the research to plan a trip yourself takes time.
Especially if you’re visiting the city or tennis tournament for the first time.
So if you’re passionate about tennis, love to travel and want to spoil yourself with a luxury experience, have a look at the tours provided by www.grandslamtennistours.com
Grand Slam Tennis Tours have been escorting tennis fans to premier events for over 20 years. I joined them for a fabulous day session at the US Open last week.
Here are three reasons to consider doing a tennis tour to the US Open.
1. Great seats
I bought tickets online for Arthur Ashe stadium that were the best seats that were available to the general public. The seats are in the middle of the promenade, which is the section of seats at the top, which are quite a distance from the court.
So far back that you can’t hear the crack of the ball being hit, or hear what the umpire is saying. And I’ve since bought binoculars to get a closer look at the players.
Grand Slam Tennis Tours have a luxury suite, which is in the second level back from the court, so the seats are much closer to the court and watching the match is more enjoyable.
2. Luxury Suite
The US Open is hot.
Really hot!
And here aren’t many spectator seats in the shade.
If you’re like me and have pale skin then you like to avoid sitting for hours on end in the sun, even when you’ve taken all sun precautions with sun-screen, a hat and long clothing.
Having access to the suite means that you can watch tennis from your seat for a while, then have a break while watching the match on TV in the air conditioned suite.
A meal, drinks and snacks are provided throughout the session so you don’t have to miss any tennis to go and buy refreshments.
The suite also gives you a place to go if it rains, which it does quite often during the US Open.
3. The other little extras
- The tennis tour includes transfers on an air-conditioned bus from your hotel, which means you can get to the grounds faster and avoid the heat of the subway platform while getting to Flushing Meadows.
- The accommodation for the tour is at a hotel where tennis players, coaches and journalists stay, so you never know who you’ll get to see in the lift or the lobby.
- The tour also includes a Welcome Dinner where you can meet the other tennis fans, while enjoying a meal at a fabulous local restaurant.
