The 2016 Australian Open is offering total prize money of $44,000,000 (approx USD 30,736,000). This is an increase of $4,000,000 or 10% on the 2015 prize pool. Although in terms of USD equivalents the 2016 total prize money is down 6% compared to last year.

Quarterfinalists – $375,000 (approx USD 262,000)
Round of 16 – $193,000 (approx USD 135,000)
Round of 32 – $108,000 (approx USD 75,000)
Round of 64 – $67,000 (approx USD 47,000)
First Round – $38,500 (approx USD 27,000)
In 2016 the winners and runners-up received a 10% increase in prize money compared to 2015. The losing semi-finalists receive the largest percentage increase in their 2016 prize money compared to 2015 with a 15% rise.
Doubles – Men’s and Women’s (per pair)
Winners – $635,000 (approx USD 444,000)
Runners-Up – $315,000 (approx USD 220,000)
Semi-finalists – $157,500 (approx USD 110,000)
Quarterfinalists – $78,500 (approx USD 55,000)
Round of 16 – $43,000 (approx USD 30,000)
Round of 32 – $25,000 (approx USD 17,000)
First Round – $16,500 (approx USD 11,500)
The champions will be 10% better off in 2016.
Mixed Doubles (per pair)
Winners – $157,000 (approx USD 110,000)
Runners-Up – $78,500 (approx USD 55,000)
Semi-finalists – $39,250 (approx USD 27,000)
Quarterfinalists – $18,000 (approx USD 12,500)
Round of 16 – $9,000 (approx USD 6,300)

The prize money awarded to mixed doubles players is 10% higher than in 2015.
