Australian Open 2015 Prize Money in Australian and US Dollars

Have a look at how the 2015 Australian Open prize money, with US dollar equivalents, will be shared around.

The 2015 Australian Open is offering total prize money of $40,000,000 (approx USD 32,500,000). This is an increase of $7,000,000 or 21% on the 2014 prize pool. Although the increase in US dollar terms is only 10%, due to depreciation in the Australian dollar.

Australian Open Trophies

Have a look at what the players receive for playing singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

Singles – Men’s and Women’s – Per Player

Winners – $3,100,000 (approx USD 2,500,000*)

Runners-up – $1,550,000 (approx USD 1,260,000)

Semifinalists – $650,000 (approx USD 530,000)

Quarterfinalists – $340,000 (approx USD 275,000)

Round of 16 – $175,000 (approx USD 140,000)

Round of 32 – $97,500 (approx USD 80,000)

Round of 64 – $60,000 (approx USD 49,000)

First Round – $34,500 (approx USD 28,000)

The total prize pool for Singles increased by 21% compared to 2014. The Winners and Runners-up get a 17% rise on the 2014 amounts. While players making the Round of 16 and 32 get an additional 30%, but those going out in the First Round only get a 15% increase on the 2014 figures the largest and smallest percentage change respectively.

Qualifying Men and Women

Third Round – $16,000 (approx USD 13,000)

Second Round – $8,000 (approx USD 6,500)

First Round – $4,000 (approx USD 3,300)

All prize money for each round of qualifying increased by almost 11%, but remains the same in US dollars, compared to 2014 amounts.

Doubles – Men’s and Women’s (per pair)

Winners – $575,000 (approx USD 470,000)

Runners-Up – $285,000 (approx USD 230,000)

Semifinalists – $142,500 (approx USD 115,000)

Quarterfinalists – $71,000 (approx USD 58,000)

Round of 16 – $39,000 (approx USD 32,000)

Round of 32 – $23,000 (approx USD 19,000)

First Round – $14,800 (approx USD 12,000)

The champions will be 11% better off in 2014.

Mixed Doubles (per pair)

Winners – $142,500 (approx USD 115,000)

Runners-Up – $71,500 (approx USD 58,000)

Semifinalists – $35,600 (approx USD 29,000)

Quarterfinalists – $16,300 (approx USD 13,300)

Round of 16 – $8,200 (approx USD 6,700)

First Round – $4,000 (approx USD 3,300)

The prize money awarded to mixed doubles players is 5% higher than in 2014.
