Find out what the coffee is like at the 2013 Australian Open.
Melbourne is a coffee loving city so as expected the flavour and quality of the coffee served at the Australian Open is good, but the size, in my opinion, is way too small! Especially if you’re a Starbucks grand latte sort of girl like me.
The cup is pictured above but it looks bigger than it is (I should have shown it next to a Starbucks Grande latte, in my estimate it’s about one third the size).
So the coffee wins on flavour (mild brew, milky, no acidic after taste), but loses on size. Cost is $4.50. As a comparison a Starbucks grande latte in Melbourne $4.70.
And I’m sure last year the coffees were about 1.5 times as big for $4.00.
Anyone else remember?
The Fan Test Rating Scale
- Ace – The highest possible rating
- Winner – Good but could be slightly improved
- Deuce – Neutral, neither good nor bad
- Fault – The item is lacking in some way.
Fan Test Rating of the Coffee = Deuce, Wins on Flavour, Loses on Size
Despite the rating, I had one of these coffees every day upon arrival at AO, so I think that says something too!
Until next time

Wise move @universe93 getting iced coffee on the way in (good Aussie iced coffee is one of the things I really miss when I’m overseas).
Definitely hope the AO coffees get bigger again in 2014, maybe in the same ratio that the grounds get bigger!

I wound up buying a Dare Raw iced coffee at 7/11 before I went to AO every day, because it’s about 3.70 there, only 1% fat and has the same amount of caffeine as two and a half cups of coffee LOL
