Find out how the grand slams compare in terms of merchandise.
This is the second article in a series comparing key elements of the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open.
In this article I’ll review the merchandise.

How do the fan slam rankings work?
For each aspect of the tournament each grand slam was rated from 1 to 4, with the best tournament scoring 4 and lowest scoring 1. If two tournaments were equivalent, the total points were shared. For example if two tournaments were equally best, the total points for the top two ratings (4 + 3 = 7) are shared so each tournament receives 3.5.
The scores are based on my opinion and I welcome your feedback in the comments at the end of the article.
At the end of the fan slam ranking series we’ll add up the points to see which tournament is the best overall.
Merchandise
I love grand slam merchandise! This category was pretty easy to rank because each slam receives equal points. All slams have a great range of merchandise available.
Australian Open 2.5
French Open 2.5
Wimbledon 2.5
US Open 2.5
Roland Garros gets a special mention for having the best towels and the Ralph Lauren merchandise at Wimbledon and US Open is the best of all the merchandise, but it comes with a big price tag.
Summary of fan slam rankings to date
Based on the scores mentioned above and the previous fan slam rankings for ease of getting to the venue the tally so far is:
Australian Open : 11.5
US Open : 10
French Open : 9.5
Wimbledon : 9

The Wimbledon online shop is pretty good and tends to offer decent discounts from time to time.
