Two Top Melbourne Bars Where you can Go to Watch the AO

January 8, 2013 By grandslamgal

If you’re in Melbourne but don’t have tickets for the Australian Open, the next best option is to watch it on TV.

You can do this from home, or from your hotel, but if you like to watch tennis in a sociable atmosphere, and want access to Fox Sports, here are two Melbourne bars to check out.

These bars are sport loving places, so you won’t run the risk of them turning the TV over at a crucial moment!

Melbourne Public – 11 Dukes Walk, South Wharf

Melbourne Public

Melbourne Public is located past Crown near the Hilton and the Convention Centre. If you’re at Crown, walk towards DFO along the board walk and follow the path.

It has plenty of space, easy access to the bar and they will be showing the Australian Open on their big screens.

Precinct Hotel – 60 Swan Street, Richmond

Precinct Hotel in Richmond

Precinct Hotel in Richmond is near Richmond Station, which is the train station closest to the Australian Open (just walk past Richmond Station away from the city and you’ll see it on the right).

They have a big screen and several TVs, plus a lovely courtyard.

The schedule of screenings for the Australian Open will be added to their website.

Precinct Hotel has a lovely court yard area out the back with a TV

If you visit either place during the AO, feel free to leave a comment below or tweet your feedback to @grandslamgal

Australian Open Live Site at Federation Square

Fed Square (opposite Flinders Street station, where the Melbourne Visitor Centre is located) is showing tennis on the big screen daily from 11am.
