By winning the 2011 Olympus US Open series Men’s title, Mardy Fish now has a chance to take home USD 2.8 million if he wins the US Open.
That’s 1.8 million in US Open prize money plus a bonus USD 1 million for winning the US Open plus the Olympus US Open Series.
Not a bad few months work if he can pull it off, especially added to the prize money that he’s won along the way in the US Open series.
This great form continues what has been a great year for Fish so far.
Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati
Fish has made the semi final, losing to Murray, who went on to play Djokovic in the final.
Rogers Cup in Montreal
Fish made the final in Montreal, losing to Djokovic in 3 sets.
Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington
Fish withdrew from this event due to a heel injury.
Farmers Classic in Los Angeles
Fish made the final of this event, losing to Gulbis in 3 sets.
Atlanta Tennis Championships
Fish beat Isner to win the final of the Atlanta Tennis Championships, for the second year in a row.
Wimbledon 2011
- Fish made the Wimbledon Quarter Finals losing just one set along the way, eventually losing to Nadal in 4 sets.
- The Quarter Final achievement made him the last American man in the draw and allowed him to achieve a career best ranking of No.8 in the world and become the highest ranked US player.
Although I’m sad not to see Andy Roddick as the US Men’s No.1 at the moment, I respect what Fish has achieved and hope he continues doing well.
More Fish in Pics
A bigger Fish met his match at the Sydney Aquarium during the Medibank International in 2009.
Following a knee injury later that year Fish lost more than 12 kilograms (25 pounds) on his way to revamping his career.
