Men’s Tennis in Australia in January 2012: Find Out Who is Playing Where

Find out which men’s tennis players are playing where in Australia in January in the lead up to the Australian Open 2012.

Novak Djokovic @AO 2011

The top 3 men, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer will play at the Mubadala Tennis Championship from 29 to 31 December.

After that Djokovic is not scheduled to play again until the Australian Open while both Federer and Nadal will play at the Qatar Exxonmobil Open 2012 from 2 – 7 January.

Then we won’t see Rog or Raf in a tourney until the AO.

Here’s a list of where the other guys will warm up for the Australian Open.

Hopman Cup: 31 December – 7 January 2012, Perth

The Australian tennis year kicks off with the Hopman Cup, a fab tourney where men and women play together as a team for their country.

Perth is hot at this time of year, really hot. So it’s a great place to get acclimatised to the freakishly hot conditions that can make or break a match at the Australian Open.

Brisbane International: 1-8 January 2012, Brisbane

Most of the Brisbane International is played at the time as the Hopman Cup. This mixed tournament is part of the AO Series.

This is a lovely boutique tournament for only 8 men, held at Kooyong, the previous venue for the Australian Open.

Special Mention for the Heinken Open, New Zealand

It’s not in Aus but lot of top men will also be playing at the Heinken Open in New Zealand from 9 to 14 January, including Ferrer, Verdasco, Monaco and loads more men that you love to see play.

Australian Open: 16 – 29 January 2012, Melbourne

The stars will shine at the Australian Open 2012. The top seeds are set to play and the seeds will be known once the draw is released.

    Totally agree. It will be particularly interesting if Djokovic, Federer, Nadal and Murray all stay full fit and un-injured.

    Lots of tennis to look forward to in the next month. It’ll be interesting to see who is in form come the Aus Open. I’m sure there will be a surprise semi finalist or two.
