US Open 2013 – Wrap-up of the First 6 Day’s Play

September 1, 2013 By grandslamgal

Summary of key results after 6 day’s play at the 2013 US Open, including how the top seeds have fared and surprise results.

US Open 2012314

Due to other commitments I haven’t watched as much of the US Open as I would have liked since it started. But I’ve been watching when I can and keeping up via the website and Twitter. I did see Sam Stosur’s loss to Victoria Duvall which made me incredibly sad because I really wanted to see Sam do well this year. Props to Duvall though for a big win that made the home crowd ecstatic.

There’s been a lot of discussion about what Roger is wearing (view pics here) which fortunately hasn’t hindered his progress. Along with Djokovic, Nadal and Berdych he hasn’t dropped a set so far.

The biggest upset for me has been Lleyton Hewitt’s win over Juan Martin Del Potro. I’m a big fan of both guys so although I’ll miss seeing Delpo in the draw I hope Hewitt backs up his win and keeps playing well.

Well, enough about my thoughts, here’s an update on the matches so far.

Women’s Singles Draw

At the end of play on Day 6 (Saturday 31 August) the women have completed round 3, leaving 16 players in the competition.
